17 members and guests attended the Pitmen Poets concert at the Sage on Sunday, November 24, with 13 of us having dinner beforehand at the Sage Bistro. The meal was excellent, the price of £17/£21 for the 2/3-course meal very good value, and the service immaculate. We were given the use of our table for the evening, and so returned for coffee/tea at the interval. The concert itself was lively, and we had well situated seats in two rows four/five rows from the front in Sage Two. In the course of the evening, we were treated to folk music from the North East mining tradition by four musicians whose playing of guitars, and other stringed instruments as well as accordion and even spoons, combined with North East humour, made for a most memorable occasion.
